In 1998, Benchmark Components moved to Stanley, WI and increased the employee count from three to 20 plant and office workers. Shorty after the move, an additional 20,000 sq ft plant in Thorp was purchased. The facility was owned by a competitior, BTI, who was originally based out of Cornell, WI and was recruited as the Thorp Industrial Park’s first tenant in Sept.1998. BTI, was a maker of industrial bench tops and platforms. Together they became known as Wisconsin Bench and in 2002 the company consolidated in Thorp where we reside today.

While the companies size and dealer base increased so did the types of products we manufactured. What began as flat panels developed into lockers, case goods, and educational furniture. The plant was given a 50,000 square foot addition in 2016 to better support our customers all across the country. The company’s name also changed to WB Manufacturing in 2017.

The Beginning – 1983

WB Manufacturing originally operated under the name of Benchmark Components in Chippewa Falls, WI. At the time, the company manufactured tops and flat panels using laminate with various core materials and hardwood tops. As the business grew, the company expanded from Chippewa Falls to a location in Stanley, WI. This also increased the employee count from three to 20 plant and office workers. As the company was expanding the dealer base also expanded across the region. The companies continued growth required an additional increase in the plant’s size and an additional plant was added in Thorp, WI. In 1998 Benchmark Components became known as Wisconsin bench and in 2002 the company consolidated into the Thorp location that we reside in today.
